In 2025, the client plans to invest in a palm oil production project in Semangi near Medan, Indonesia. The area is densely covered with forests and has unstable power supply. Traditional concrete transportation relies on external purchases, which is costly and inefficient. The customer chose to purchase another AS-3.5 concrete mixer for combined use. Client Objective:
Launching a palm oil production programme in 2025, there is an ongoing need to build a new processing plant in the Semangi area and to ensure that the plant infrastructure is completed before the 2025 rainy season. There was also a need to overcome the limitations of the muddy mountainous terrain for concrete work and to minimise construction costs.
Obstacles Encountered:
The project faced a triple challenge in moving forward:
Terrain constraintsThe narrow and rough roads in the Semangi area made it difficult and inefficient for conventional mixing and transport equipment to get around.
Cost pressureThe “mixing plant + trucks + loaders” model required 6 additional drivers and a monthly average fuel cost of more than $18,000 per month.
Climatic impactFrequent rainfall made the site muddy, making it difficult for conventional equipment to move around and increasing the pressure on the schedule.

Re-use of main equipment
In order to save costs, the AS-5.5 self loading mixer purchased was continued to be used to complete the whole process of “loading-mixing-transportation” with a single machine.

Meet the scattered construction demand in the expansion area, an additional AS-3.5 self-loading concrete mixer will be used to form a sub-regional co-operation.
